Okinawa soba "Oshiro"

It is a long-established soba restaurant that is not often mentioned in Okinawa guidebooks, but is very popular among the locals.

When I visited, there were mainly locals and we were the only tourists. There was a parking lot for several cars a short distance away.

The soba here is topped with crispy lettuce.

Flip the lettuce to reveal soki, sampan meat, kamaboko (fish cake), and thick fried bean curd, making for a hearty meal!

The flavor of bonito wafting softly in the air whets the appetite. With the light bonito broth, I ate it in no time at all.

I also ordered Jushii with Osoba.   Okinawa Soba "Oshiro" had one type of soba on the menu, and the sizes were large, medium, and small.

The menu is like "simple-is-best", and I felt that they are competing with their soba only.

Miyazato Soba

I asked a local to tell me about a good Okinawan soba restaurant, and he told me about Miyazato Soba.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is like an old-fashioned diner.

I had the most popular Soki Soba.

It has three large pieces of soki, Miyazato soba's signature knotted kelp, and green onions on top.

The Soki was soft and tender. The soft noodles were a perfect match for the gentle broth that contained a good amount of kombu dashi (seaweed broth).

The person who introduced me to the restaurant said he loves the rice and curry here, and in addition to soba, spaghetti with meat sauce and toast were also on the menu.

Motobu Soba

On my way back from Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, I decided to have some Okinawa soba.

Motobu-cho, Kunigami-gun, has many restaurants serving Okinawa soba, the soul food of the people of the prefecture.

My mood at the time was "I want to eat taco rice and Okinawan soba! I chose "Motobu Soba" to fulfill my request.

This is the taco rice set.

It is a set of taco rice and three kinds of buckwheat noodles (soki, cartilage, and sampai) with mozuku vinegar.

I was satisfied with a set that allowed me to taste a variety of things at once.

The taco rice has the perfect amount of spice.

Overall, the flavor was relatively light. The soba noodles soup stock was light and simple, and contained medium-thick flat noodles.

This is Soki Soba. The tender Soki is easy to eat.

Since I was with my child, we were guided to a tatami room so we could eat calmly. There is also a set menu for children, and the children finished their meals.

Finally

Looking at the pictures again, I have been inspired to want to eat Okinawan soba again.

I will try to eat soba at a different Okinawa soba restaurant on my next trip to Okinawa.

Thank you for reading to the end.
