Introduction to Yasui Kompira Shrine!

What is Yasui Kompira?

Yasui Kinpira-gu Shrine is famous as "Shrine of Enmikiri" in Kyoto.

It is also famous as a power spot. There is a monument called "Enkiri Enmusubi Monument" in the precincts of the shrine, and people line up to see it during the daytime and on holidays.

The location is here.

Yasaka Shrine, Maruyama Park, and Kiyomizu Temple are nearby.

It is a 15-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line.It is10 minutes walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line.

There is a parking lot within the precincts of the shrine, though there are about 10 cars for a fee.

The area is crowded with tourists as there are many famous sightseeing spots nearby. Especially during the cherry blossom viewing season and the season of autumn leaves, it is quite crowded.

Origin

The temple was originally built by Kamatari Fujiwara and was inhabited by the favorite wife of Emperor Sutoku, who was defeated in the Hogen Rebellion and was exiled to Konpira Shrine in Sanuki.

The deity is also said to have cut off all bad karma that would have prevented him from being married to his favorite wife, who had to leave him. As mentioned above, she cuts off all bad relationships such as illness, drinking, smoking, gambling, etc., and brings good marriages to the couple.

Furthermore, the deity Daimonokunushi, who is enshrined together with Emperor Shotoku, has long been worshipped as the god of opening the way to the world, and is believed to bring good fortune in maritime traffic, traffic safety, good fortune, and prosperity in business, and is also believed in by anglers and people who enjoy marine sports.

In short, he is a wonderful god who helps people to detach bad things from their lives and attract good things to theirs. This is why it is called one of the best power spots in Japan.

  • It is a place where you can have bad karma cut off and good karma attached to you.
  • Not only human karma, but also bad karma such as drinking, smoking, gambling, and illness will be cut off.
  • It also brings blessings for good luck, prosperous business, and traffic safety.

How to visit the shrine

First, visit the main shrine.

You can perform the service here without any special care. Worship normally.

Next, head for the main event of the shrine, the "Enkiri Enmusubi Monument"

Here it is. It is a huge stone in the shape of an ema (votive tablet), 1.5 meters high and 3 meters wide, through a crack in the center of which power is poured into a circular hole.

The stone was originally a stone, but it is now filled with "katashiro," or substitute money. When it was introduced on TV before, it looked a little scary, but when I visited there, there was no such atmosphere at all.

Behind (next to) the monument, there is a place where you pay a fee of 100 yen or more to write down the kind of relationship you want to break or the kind of relationship you want to see come to you. It is better to be very specific here.

Take the paper money with your wish written on it and walk through the monument, starting from the side marked "Omote" (front), with your wish in mind. Next, go through the back side of the shrine to the front side to tie good karma. Finally, paste a piece of paste onto the monument. The glue is available at the awarding office.

Key Points

  • First, visit the main shrine normally.
  • Pay 100 yen or more to write down your wish.
  • While thinking of your wish, go through the front first to cut off bad karma. Next, go through from the back of the shrine to bring good karma. The fee for the form is then pasted on the monument.

Hours of Worship

The amazing thing about Yasui Kompira-gu Shrine is that it is open 24 hours a day. As you can see from the picture, I went there in the middle of the night. Because it was the middle of the night when I decided to visit the shrine, there were no people there at all. You can also fill out a form 24 hours a day. I saw a couple of people walking around with bags from a convenience store, but I knew they were not there to pray.

I personally think that there are many people who don't want to be seen and want to go secretly, etc. I think it is great that the shrine is open 24 hours a day. It is impossible to take the train at midnight, but if you drive, most of the parking lots are empty.

Points of interest

  • You can visit the shrine 24 hours a day.
  • For those who want to go secretly, night time is recommended.

Cautions

There are some points to note. If you visit the shrine during the daytime (especially on holidays), it may take a while to pass through the monument because there are so many people waiting in line.

Also, you will have to crawl on all fours when you go through the hole, so it is recommended to wear clothes that you don't mind having the hem of your dress tucked in. Short skirts are not allowed.

The office for getting ema (votive picture tablet) and omamori (talisman) is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., so if you want to get ema and omamori, please come during the above hours.

Point to remember

  • It takes a lot of time to visit the shrine during the daytime.
  • When you go through the hole, you have to crawl on all fours, so it is not advisable to wear loose-fitting clothes.
  • Note that the office for receiving amulets and ema (votive picture tablet) is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Reason for my visit

I saw on some TV program or on the Internet that there is a certain upper limit to the amount of good luck that each person can have. Once you reach the limit, you can't have any more good or bad relationships. So I wanted to get rid of the bad relationships for now.

Specifically, I wanted to get rid of the migraine headaches and back pain that I have been suffering from for many years. Migraines have been particularly bad for the past few years. The other thing is relationships that I don't want, as I'm sure you can probably guess. I'm sure you all have various relationships at work or with friends, but let's get rid of those relationships as soon as possible!

Key point

  • There is an upper limit to the number of relationships that each person can have, so ask them to cut off the bad ones.
  • Let's cut off the bad relationships.

This time, I have told you how to do Enkiri Enmusubi at Yasui Kompira-gu Shrine.

When I went there, it was the middle of the night, but the atmosphere of the shrine seemed sacred and solemn, and there was nothing particularly scary. Looking at the katadai and ema (votive picture tablet), there were many prayers for good marriages, but there were just as many prayers for the dissolution of bad marriages. To be honest, some of them wrote quite a lot of things, quite a lot of things. I think you will understand that when you go there. That is natural because we are human beings.

This may be my personal opinion, but I don't want you to do the disengagement with a half-hearted intention. I think it is better to have a clear intention when you break off a relationship.

Also, if you search on the Internet, you will see that the word of mouth is very good. There are many reviews such as, "I was able to break off the relationship so quickly and easily that it was almost scary. I too hope that I will be able to break the bad relationship soon.

However, it is one thing to want to break off a bad relationship, and quite another to wish for someone's misfortune, so you have to be careful not to make that mistake. As the saying goes, "Cursing a person is like cursing two holes. I hope that those who read this article and come to the shrine will have good luck. ☺️
