Hello everyone ✨
If you are traveling to Kyoto, don't you want to eat "wagashi" (Japanese sweets) ❗️❗️?
There are many old and new wagashi shops in Kyoto, from long-established wagashi shops to new wagashi shops 🍡.
In this article, I, a wagashi lover, would like to introduce you to the wagashi of my favorite store "Nona" ✨.
In conclusion, "Nona" is a must-try shop that makes innovative and fresh wagashi while keeping the best of traditional wagashi!
By the way, I love wagashi so much that I even attended a wagashi class for two years. I enjoy not only eating them, but also the delicate process of making wagashi with confidence😁.

Where is the wagashiya "Nona" located?
The store is located a little far from the center of Kyoto.
The nearest station is Gojo Station on the Subway Karasuma Line, which is about a 10-minute walk away.
Please make use of the map 😁.
When you find the white curtain, you are at Nona👍.
What kind of Japanese sweets do they have?
Seasonal fresh sweets
What you see as soon as you enter the store are the seasonal wagashi in the showcase.
Since it was just spring, there was sakura mochi 🌸.
The sakura mochi looks a bit large 💓 It is said to be a strawberry sakura mochi 🍓✨.
Luxury✨!
It was hard to decide which one to try because they all looked so delicious, but this time I went home with two fresh sweets!
The first one is called "Harugasumi" which is a beautiful soft pink rice cake 💓.
(The accompanying cake is from a different store 😅)
It seems that every wagashi has a name, and the name matches perfectly with the appearance!
This "Haruka" is a white peach milk bean paste wrapped in Warabi rice cake.
The slightly rich milk is refreshed by the peaches, and the bean paste is exquisite.
The milkiness is not heavy, just the peaches and warabimochi soften the milkiness✨.
This wagashi is said to represent the hazy scenery on the border between winter and spring, just as the sun is shining in spring ✨.
The second is a confection called "Yamabiko".
The moment I put this fresh confectionery in my mouth, the refreshing aroma of lemon filled my mouth 🍋.
The gap between the appearance and the actual taste was huge and I was both surprised and impressed ✨.
The green around it is wrapped with mugwort bean paste and koshi-an (sweet bean paste). It is a very refreshing fresh pastry.
This one is said to represent "Yamabiko," as the title suggests, whose voice echoes back to him, and is a representation of the spirit of a tree spirit playing by imitating the voice of a human being 💡.
What a cute story ✨ so I wonder if the lemon's refreshing taste creates a sense of excitement? I imagine 😁.
When you visit the store, go with your gut and choose 👆.
I think you'll be impressed with the variety of flavors you'll experience with any of them ✨.
Leaf Mochi
As the name suggests, it's a rice cake wrapped in a leaf, but inside the leaf is 🍊Naruto orange bean paste wrapped in guts 🍊.
When you roll up the leaf, you will see a rice cake with a soft and fluffy texture ✨.
And inside, there is a refreshing orange bean paste.
The refreshing orange bean paste is not too heavy and you can eat one easily!
Each of the wagashi we received this time was an outstanding "collaboration with fruit" 👍.
Compared to the traditional wagashi, this "fusion with fruit" is very fresh and new.
Of course, traditional wagashi are delicious, but the wagashi at "Nona" seem to have a new breeze of fruit while maintaining the delicacy of traditional wagashi 😊.
All of them are fresh confections and must be eaten on the same day.
Steamed Yokan "Ichijuku Budo"
They have prepared a steamed yokan called "Ichijuku Budo" that will last for a long time and will be a welcome souvenir.
The yokan is made with figs simmered in wine!
We would be very happy to receive such a wonderful souvenir.Of course, it would also make a great souvenir for yourself 😊✨.
Summary (Gojo "Nona" is a must-visit wagashi shop in Kyoto)
When you come to Kyoto, please visit "Nona".
Even if you have been to Kyoto many times and enjoy wagashi every time you come, you will experience a different kind of wagashi ✨.
It is well worth a visit, and I highly recommend it 🍡.
