But in fact, sightseeing in Kyoto is not limited to cherry blossoms and bright red autumn leaves.

Today, I would like to introduce some of Kyoto's most spectacular green foliage viewing spots that can be enjoyed from the end of April through May.

In Kyoto, bright red autumn leaves can be seen in autumn, but these fresh foliage leaves sprouts from the end of April to May when they are just starting to leaf out.

During the early summer season, the green foliage leaves are very vivid and beautiful in Kyoto.

The place where green foliage leaves are the most beautiful and can be enjoyed.

There are many places in Kyoto that are famous for their green foliage.

Among them, the green autumn leaves at a temple called Ruriko-in Temple are spectacular.

Where is Ruriko-in Temple located?

Ruriko-in Temple is located in an area of Kyoto called Yase.

It is located in the northern part of Kyoto City and can be reached by the Eizan Electric Railway, a lovely local train.

The area called Yase has been known as a place of healing for a long time.

It has been closely associated with the Imperial Palace and the Imperial Court since ancient times.

There is a lot of nature and it is very quiet and relaxing.

What kind of temple is it?

Known for its beautiful autumn foliage, the temple attracts many visitors when it is open to the public in spring and fall.

Originally the hermitage of Sanjo Sanetomi, a Meiji-era lord, the temple was extensively renovated from the end of the Taisho era (1912-1926).

Now, Rurikoin is now a temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect.

It is a 40,000 hectares site with a Sukiya-style building and a garden with a magnificent natural setting in the northern part of Rakuhoku area (Northan part of Kyoto).

The temple is not open all year round.

Visitors can only enter the temple during the beautiful season of fresh green foliage in early summer and red leaves in fall.

Perhaps, the beauty of the fresh green foliage is not so well known, so there are fewer people at this time, and you can enjoy the temple at a leisurely pace.

When you enter the temple, the greenery is already vivid and all the scenery you see is very beautiful.

However, the view of the foliage leaves from inside the temple is so amazingly beautiful that it is as if time has stopped.

When you look at the temple's garden from the temple, you can see the shimmering lapis lazuli color of the moss.

The way the autumn leaves add color to the "garden of lapis lazuli" is exceptional.

The entire room glows green with reflections of the vibrant greenery.

You can also enjoy the view of garden with silence.
